Ireland V Wales exhibition helps to raise funds towards Limerick suicide watch read more...

Over 400 people attend University of Limerick for Ireland V Wales exhibition on Monday the 18th of November......

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Monday 18th November 2019 saw the return of Wales to the UL Sports Arena in Limerick. Munster and Limerick Badminton in association with Badminton Ireland and UL Sport staged UL Sport’s first ever international and Limerick’s first since 1991. Ireland v Wales was preceded by a special exhibition during which Olympic hopeful Nhat Nguyen and Tan Ming Kang of Malaysia, who thrilled the crowd. The teams were introduced and then led to the arena by UL student Aaron Magee on the bagpipes. The Wales team of Andy Oates, William Kitching & Katie Whiteman were coached by former Irish international & Ennis native Donal O’Halloran. Team Ireland was coached by High Performance director Daniel Magee and the match in addition to being streamed by Philip McKeown and Sudhir Maharaj was watched by a crowd of 400 spectators. Paul Reynolds / Rachel Darragh beat Andy Oates / Katie Whiteman in 3 sets whilst Joshua Magee / Paul Reynolds beat Oates / Kitching in 2 sets. Joshua Magee beat William Kitching with Sarah Boyle outclassing Katie Whiteman, giving Ireland a 4-0 win.

In the return match the Irish team travelled to Wales on Monday the 25th of November. Ireland came out on top again beating Wales 5-0 after a number of hard fought games. Well done to all of the organisers for all the hardwork orgaising these matches.
