Badminton Ireland are set to launch a new training group for players who would like to continue with structured training while balancing study or work commitments. The training will take place in the Sport Ireland National Indoor arena at the National sports campus in Blanchardstown. The training will be two-hour training sessions held between 17:00-19:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The sessions are aimed at players who are over 17 years of age and have shown commitment to training and have met the Developing player training group criteria as per following link. The Goal for this training group is to provide a development and progression opportunity for players as they move from underage to senior. The target group are players who would like to continue competing at Domestic and International events. Throughout third level education and work, this training will offer players the opportunity to balance training with these commitments while continuing with their Badminton progression under a professional Coaching structure.
“We are excited to launch this new training group as we are aware of the current drop off rate of players as they move out of school and underage competition. This training will offer a good balance for players to continue to develop their game while achieving the other goals they have set alongside their sport” Education and Training Manager Daniel Magee
Badminton Ireland aim to launch the development group during the last week of August in the lead up to the 2018-19 badminton season.
Players who have met the criteria and would like to put their name forward for training should send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Friday the 29th of July.
All players will be expected to sign a player code, the code can be found on the following link.
