Thursday 31 October 2019
The AIG FZ Forza Irish Open 2019 will play a key role in the Olympic Qualification for Tokyo 2020. Players from 37 countries will be coming to the National Indoor Arena in Dublin between 13th- 16th November, to compete for vital qualification points.
AIG Insurance is continuing to support Irish Badminton by sponsoring the Irish Open for the second year in a row and helping to bring live TV coverage of the Finals with TG4. Badminton is a key sport in AIG’s Effort Is Equal campaign and this was emphasised by Sam & Chloe Magee’s first ever Irish Open title in the 2018 Irish Open.
When asked about the impact AIG and TG4 have had on the Irish Open, Badminton Ireland CEO, David McGill had this to say “We (Badminton Ireland) are very grateful for the continued support from AIG and TG4 in the Irish Open. This Olympic Qualifier happens to fall on Badminton Ireland’s 120th Anniversary, which is a great way to celebrate what is one of the oldest Badminton Events in the world.”
General Manager of AIG in Ireland, Declan O’Rourke said “AIG is delighted to be supporting the AIG FZ Forza Irish Open 2019 again this year and we are proud to help bring live TV coverage across the male and female finals along with the mixed doubles. This reflects AIG’s commitment to equality in sport and our continued support for male and female sport which is highlighted in our Effort is Equal campaign. I wish all competitors the very best of luck.”
