Dublin hosts the Inaugural Graded International Invitational

To celebrate the 120th Anniversary of Badminton Ireland, the governing body has invited England, Scotland and Wales to Dublin on the 5th October 2019. Each country will send four teams that will be comprised of players from their member association. These will be split into four categories Grade E, F, G & H and represent the grassroots of Badminton in each country.

The Irish teams were picked from the FZ Forza Irish Graded Finals which took place in May this year. These players won their respective grade in the 2018/19 season, where 621 entrants competed across seven grades, from A to H. Representatives from Badminton England, Scotland and Wales were invited to the Graded finals in May and committed to working with Badminton Ireland to launch this event.

The Graded International is a special event and is the first of its kind and the culmination of Badminton Ireland's continued investment in grassroots badminton. This is a fantastic opportunity for the Badminton Ireland club members as they compete in an International set up event.

Commenting on the event Badminton Ireland CEO David McGill said “Over the past three years the Graded Nationals has grown steadily with increasing participation. This event creates a unique experience for club players, as they compete in a round-robin in an international standard event and I want to thank Badminton England, Scotland and Wales for their support in putting this event together”.

The event will start at 9:00 am, Saturday, October 5th. An opening ceremony will introduce the national teams at 8:30 am. After the competition finishes, there will an awards ceremony, announcing the winners of each Grade (E, F, G and H) and the four nations will be invited back to the Carlton Hotel in Blanchardstown for a drinks reception.

Badminton Ireland encourages all its members to attend the event, and celebrate 120 years of Irish Badminton and promote grassroots badminton.

If you can't make the event and for family and friends from the guest nations, Badminton Ireland introduce a Live Score Badminton Ireland App, where everyone has the opportunity to view Player Profiles and match schedules. This site will go live tomorrow morning before the first match begins: http://livescore.badmintonireland.com.
