Places Limited on Badminton Ireland Conference 2017

Following on from the successful member’s forum in 2016 the dates for the 2017 conference are now confirmed. The event will run on July 22nd and 23rd and will cater for all our members. The sessions will provide opportunities for both coaches and players to develop new skills and exchange knowledge.The 2017 conference has a number of new ideas included from the feedback given at last year’s conference. These new ideas along with the lead coaches at this year’s conference should lead to a very exciting weekend of badminton. Places are now limited so get you booking in soon.

At this year’s conference, we will have

Irish National Coach John Quinn

  • Former GB coach
  • Scottish Badminton national coaching team
  • French Badminton national coaching team

John has had great experience working in World Class badminton systems. John will lead a number of on-court sessions where he will challenge coaches and put the players through their paces. This will be a great opportunity for all members, both juvenile and adult to get to meet our national coach and get to understand his badminton philosophy.

 

UKCC level 2 coach Andy Stewart

Badminton Ireland is delighted to welcome back Andy Stewart for the 2017 conference. Andy Stewart has great knowledge on badminton topics and again will look to challenge coaches and players to exchange knowledge throughout the two-day conference. In addition to his classroom topics, Andy will be leading the Boost your Teicnic session and will be delivering a “Conditioned games session” based on the feedback received from the previous conference. For all that know Andy be prepared to test your badminton knowledge as he challenges you to think outside the box on various different aspects of what makes a complete player.

Badminton Ireland Development Officer Fiach Andrews

Get to meet our new development officer Fiach Andrews. Fiach will be talking around some new ideas he has in his current role and will also look to get information from all that attend the conference. This will be a great opportunity for our members to get to know Fiach and to discuss how we the badminton community can continue to develop badminton across Ireland.

 

 

Lyndon Williams BWF Para-Badminton

Lyndon Williams was born in Cardiff. Former European Junior Doubles Champion (1983) Senior European Doubles Bronze Medalist (1986) and Doubles World Number 11. Lyndon achieved 62 Caps for Wales and won 14 Senior National titles. He worked for Welsh Badminton for 18 years up until 2007 as National Coach, Performance Manager and finally as Executive Director. Lyndon is now working with the BWF Para-badminton along with Badminton Europe and has led the recent BEC Para-badminton course in the Netherlands. During the conference, he will deliver a classroom presentation and on court demonstration of Para-badminton.

Badminton Ireland Education and Training manager Daniel Magee

This will be the second year that Daniel Magee has the led the coaching conference. Daniel will be there for the two days to help exchange knowledge with all the members who attend. Daniel has been on the Irish sports council Pursuit of Excellence programme from 2012-2016 alongside Ireland's top coaches across a number of sports including Boxing, Diving, Tennis, Athletics, Horse Sports, Paralympics to name a few.
